Angels 1, Mariners 0

C.J. Wilson pitched seven strong innings and Mike Trout scored the lone run on a wild pitch as host Los Angeles blanked Seattle for its fifth win in seven games.

Wilson (6-5) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out three to win his second consecutive start. The Angels are 4-1 at home against the Mariners this season and have outscored Seattle 33-7.

Scott Downs pitched a perfect eighth and Ernesto Frieri tossed a flawless ninth for his 16th save in 17 opportunities to complete the two-hit shutout.

Trout hustled his way to a leadoff double in the sixth inning against Joe Saunders (5-7) and moved to third on a fly to right by Albert Pujols. Saunders then threw a low pitch that rookie catcher Mike Zunino was unable to corral and Trout dashed home.

Saunders allowed one run and six hits in his second complete game of the season and ninth of his career.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
