Angels 7, Mariners 1
Angels 7, Mariners 1: Kole Calhoun clubbed a two-run homer to back eight dominant innings from Jered Weaver as visiting Los Angeles completed a three-game sweep.
Weaver (8-7) struck out eight and allowed one run on three hits to snap a two-start losing streak and help the Angels register their first series sweep since taking three from Houston on June 28-30. Los Angeles outscored Seattle 14-2 in the series.
Chris Nelson had a two-run triple in a four-run fourth inning and Peter Bourjos and Mark Trumbo added RBI extra-base hits. The Angels scored all their runs with two outs and brutalized Seattle starter Aaron Harang for the fourth time this season.
Harang (5-11) was lit up for seven runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings to extend his winless drought to six starts. He struck out seven and walked two in falling to 0-5 lifetime versus the Angels and losing his fourth decision to them this season.
Dustin Ackley's first homer since May 4 gave Seattle a 1-0 lead in the third, but Los Angeles took control in its next at-bat. Trumbo doubled in the first run and - after the Mariners elected to intentionally walk Hank Conger - Nelson made them pay with a triple down the right-field line before scoring on Grant Green's infield single for a 4-1 lead.
