White Sox 6, Indians 5
Alexei Ramirez homered and drove in three, Juan Pierre had three hits and three RBIs and Paul Konerko had two hits in perhaps his final game with the White Sox in Chicago’s 6-5 win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Ramirez homered in the first inning, his 18th of the season, as Chicago jumped on Tribe starter Justin Germano (2-3), who was making his first start of the season. Germano allowed five runs and seven hits in two innings after spending the season in the bullpen.
Konerko, who will be a free agent, raised his average to .312 – a point shy of his career high set in 2006.
Edwin Jackson (10-12) allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2-3 innings to win for the first time since Aug. 31. Chris Sale struck out four in two innings for his fourth save, but allowed a two-out, two-run homer to shortstop Drew Sutton in the ninth.
Catcher Luke Carlin also homered for the Indians, who dropped the final two games of the series after winning seven straight. The White Sox ended the season by winning nine of their last 11.
