Blue Jays 3, Angels 0

Mark Rzepczynski tossed seven innings of two-hit ball as the Toronto Blue Jays halted a three-game losing skid with a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Rzepczynski (1-1), making an emergency start for Brandon Morrow (fatigue), baffled Angel hitters all night long. The hard-throwing left-hander allowed only a ground-rule double by Juan Rivera in the second inning and a Mike Napoli infield single in the fifth, striking out six without walking a batter.

It was his first major-league victory since beating the Angels last Aug. 21.

Edwin Encarnacion's RBI single in the second inning gave Toronto all the offense it would need. Aaron Hill added to the lead with a sacrifice fly in the fourth frame and Fred Lewis had a run-scoring double in the seventh to round out the scoring.

Kevin Gregg worked a perfect ninth for his 26th save.

Los Angeles starter Scott Kazmir (8-10) took the loss despite allowing just two runs on four hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out three.
