Rockies 5, Braves 2

Jorge De La Rosa went seven strong innings and Carlos Gonzalez doubled and hit a two-run homer to pace the Colorado Rockies to a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

De La Rosa allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven to move to 5-4 on the year. He did a great job keeping the ball down for the most part, forcing Atlanta into 12 groundouts compared to just one flyout.

Huston Street worked a perfect ninth inning to pick up his 12th save of the year.

Colorado's Seth Smith hit his 15th home run in the bottom of the sixth, while leadoff man Eric Young Jr. had three hits, scored a run, and stole his ninth base of the year. The Rockies added two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth on Dexter Fowler's two-run single.

Derek Lowe dropped to 11-12, giving up two homers and three earned runs in six innings of work.

Atlanta’s Alex Gonzalez hit his 21st home run and added an RBI single.

Colorado improved to 65-60, while Atlanta fell to 73-53 on the year.
