Astros 4, Cubs 0
Brett Myers tossed seven innings of shutout ball while allowing only three hits to lead the Houston Astros to a 4-0 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.
Myers (11-7) was tough all night, striking out eight and walking only one. Fernando Abad, Matt Lindstrom and Wilton Lopez came out of the bullpen to secure the victory for the Astros (66-73).
Hunter Pence belted his team-leading 23rd home run of the year. Four Astros had two hits, but Houston was just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Shortstop Tommy Manzella had a pair of hits and two runs scored in a winning effort.
Chicago starter Randy Wells (6-13) picked up the loss, allowing four runs and nine hits over six innings. He also struck out three and walked two.
The Cubs (60-80) left seven runners on base in this one.
Cubs rookie shortstop Starlin Castro was back in the lineup after Mike Quade benched him following a base-running error last weekend.
