Reds 5, Brewers 2
Cincinnati got home runs from Joey Votto and Scott Rolen in the top of the eighth inning to push the Reds past the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 on Monday.
Votto broke a 2-2 tie with his 35th of the year with Orlando Cabrera on base, and Rolen followed that up with his 20th. The Reds had eight total hits and Cabrera had three of them, but the club went only 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey held Milwaukee to a pair of runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking three. Nick Masset (4-4) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win while Francisco Cordero worked the ninth to record his 37th save of the season.
Kameron Loe (3-5) took the loss out of the bullpen, allowing the three runs in the eighth.
Chris Capuano had a strong outing for the Brewers, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out seven and walked three in his sixth start since moving out of the bullpen and into the rotation.
Ryan Braun continued his hot streak for the Brewers with double while knocking in both of Milwaukee’s runs.
