Marlins 5, Nationals 0
Ricky Nolasco combined with three relievers on a six-hitter and Mike Stanton belted a two-run homer as the Florida Marlins completed a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals with a 5-0 victory.
Cody Ross had two hits and an RBI while Dan Uggla scored two runs and drove in another for the Marlins, who have won four in a row overall and six of their last seven on the road.
Nolasco (13-8) rebounded from a brutal performance against St. Louis on Friday, scattering six hits and walking one over six innings. The right-hander, who struck out eight, improved to 8-2 in his last 10 starts and 9-2 away from home this season.
Jose Veras, Clay Hensley and Burke Badenhop each tossed a perfect inning to preserve the shutout.
Florida grabbed a 2-0 lead on Stanton's 12th home run of the year, a play that originally was called a triple but overturned following a video review.
Ross made it 3-0 with an RBI single in the third before Uggla scored on a wild pitch in the eighth and singled in a run in the ninth to cap the scoring.
The Nationals, who have lost five consecutive games and seven of nine, threatened against Nolasco in the fifth, but slugger Adam Dunn struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
Livan Hernandez (8-8) allowed three runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings, walking four and striking out three.
