Phillies 0, Mets 1

R.A. Dickey tossed a one-hit complete-game gem and Carlos Beltran plated David Wright with an RBI double in the sixth inning as the New York Mets recorded a 1-0 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.

The game marked the Mets' second 1-0 victory over the Phillies in six days. Last Saturday, Johan Santana carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and Jeff Francoeur belted a solo home run as New York (58-57) defeated Cole Hamels and Philadelphia (64-51).

As for Friday's contest, Dickey (8-5) was in firm control to post his second victory over the Phillies this season. The 35-year-old Tennessee native, who cruised to an 8-0 triumph over Philadelphia on May 25, walked one and struck out seven.

Hamels (7-9) suffered his second straight tough setback to the Mets. The 26-year-old southpaw, who struck out 11 in Saturday's loss, surrendered one run and five hits with eight strikeouts in this one.

Hamels did have the lone hit for his team with a single to shallow right field in the sixth inning.

Mike Hessman looked to have belted a solo home run in the fifth inning, but an umpire review revealed that a fan interfered on the play. Hessman was sent back to third base, and Hamels retired the next three batters to keep the game scoreless.
