Mets 5, Phillies 2

Rookie Lucas Duda belted a three-run double to highlight a five-run seventh inning and rookie Dillon Gee tossed seven strong frames as the New York Mets snapped the Philadelphia Phillies' 11-game winning streak with a 5-2 triumph on Saturday.

With the loss, Philadelphia (93-62) saw its magic number remain at two to claim its fourth consecutive NL East title. The second-place Atlanta Braves (87-68) recorded a 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon.

Jose Reyes slapped an RBI double, rookie Josh Thole added a run-scoring single and Carlos Beltran had two hits as New York (75-79) snapped its six-game losing skid.

Gee (2-1) settled down after allowing Ryan Howard's two-run homer in the first inning to pick up the win. The 24-year-old right-hander permitted just the two runs with five hits and fanned a season-high five in this one.

Elmer Dessens and Pedro Feliciano combined to retire the side in the eighth inning, and Hisanori Takahashi worked around a leadoff walk to notch his eighth save of the season.

Kyle Kendrick (10-10) deserved a better fate in this one. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed four runs - all charged in the seventh inning - and six hits in 6 1/3 frames to suffer his fifth setback in his last seven decisions.
