Royals 6, Orioles 5 (10 innings)
Surprising Kansas City won its fourth straight Tuesday, beating Baltimore 6-5 in 10 innings.
Alex Gordon drew a walk leading off the 10th against Jason Berken (0-2), and Billy Butler’s single moved Gordon to third. When Jeff Francoeur lofted a sacrifice fly, the Royals improved to 13-5 at Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals grabbed a 3-0 lead against Brad Bergesen in the second on RBI doubles by Wilson Betemit and Mike Aviles and a sacrifice fly by Bryan Pena. But the Orioles tied it on Luke Scott’s fourth-inning homer off Kansas City starter Jeff Francis. Baltimore led, 5-4, when Francoeur’s solo shot tied it again in the sixth.
Betemit doubled twice and upped his average to .342 for Kansas City. Reliever Tim Collins (2-1) earned the win, striking out the only batter he faced.
