White Sox 4, Athletics 3
Alexei Ramírez went 3-for-4 and blasted his fifth home run to lead the visiting Chicago White Sox to a 4-3 win over the Oakland A’s on Sunday.
Mark Buehrle (3-3) gave up three runs on seven hits with a season-high six strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings for the White Sox, who went 6-3 on their nine-game, 10-day road trip.
Sergio Santos worked the ninth inning to record his fifth save and extend his streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 19. Santos induced a Josh Willingham grounder with the tying run at third to end the game.
Ramírez hit a solo home run in the fourth off A’s starter Trevor Cahill (6-1), who allowed two earned runs on 10 hits with one strikeout over seven innings.
After Coco Crisp tied the game with a solo home run in the fifth, the White Sox took a 4-1 lead with a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
The A’s rallied in the bottom of the seventh with four singles, including Daric Barton’s two-run hit to center. Jesse Crain struck out Willingham with two men on base to end the inning.
