Rockies 6, Mets 5 (Game 1)

Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning and the Colorado Rockies rallied to win their third game in a row with a 6-5 victory over the New York Mets in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday at Citi Field.

The Rockies had to hold on in the ninth after closer Huston Street gave up a two-run home run to Scott Hairston that pulled the Mets within one run and allowed back-to-back singles to Josh Thole and Carlos Beltran with one out.

But Matt Lindstrom picked up the save, getting David Wright to fly out to the warning track in right field with the bases loaded.

Mets shortstop Jose Reyes hit his first home run in the eighth.

The Rockies will send lefthander Jorge De La Rosa to the mound when they go for the four-game sweep in the second game of the doubleheader.

The Mets have led early in each game of the series, taking a 2-0 lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Angel Pagan and an RBI single by Hairston.

But Hairston lost track of Jose Morales' high fly ball to right field in the sixth, and it bounced on the warning track for a two-out, two-run double to give the Rockies their first lead at 3-2.

Gonzalez padded the lead in the seventh with his first home run, a two-run shot off Mets starter R.A. Dickey, and Tulowitzki added his National League-best sixth homer one batter later, a solo blast off reliever Bobby Parnell.

Dickey (1-2) allowed five runs on eight hits over 6 1-3 innings, walking four and striking out four.

Rockies starter Greg Reynolds (1-0) worked five innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out one and walked two for his first major league win since 2008.
