Phillies 9, Giants 2

John Mayberry homered for the third time in four games and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the host San Francisco Giants 9-2 on Friday for their season-high eighth consecutive victory.

The game was marred by a benches-clearing brawl in the top of the sixth inning when Shane Victorino charged the mound after being hit by Giants reliever Ramiro Ramirez.

Victorino, who blasted his 11th home run in the fourth, was ejected along with Ramirez and Giants catcher Eli Whiteside.

Phillies rookie Vance Worley (8-1) followed Cliff Lee's complete-game win in the series opener with seven strong innings. He allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out six.

Hunter Pence homered for the second straight game for the Phillies, who have won 14 of their last 17.

Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez (4-6) allowed five runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings in his first start since June 24.
