Pirates 7, Cubs 4
Rookie Michael McKenry capped a four-run rally in the eighth inning with a three-run homer as the Pittsburgh Pirates posted a 7-4 win over the visiting Chicago Cubs on Friday.
Chicago took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth on rookie Darwin Barney's RBI single. But closer Carlos Marmol was unable to hold it as he entered with two on and two out and yielded a run-scoring single by Josh Harrison before McKenry belted his first career homer.
Sean Marshall (5-3) took the loss thanks to Marmol's sixth blown save in 24 opportunities.
Andrew McCutchen hit his 13th home run for Pittsburgh, which has won five of seven. Daniel McCutchen (3-1) retired the only batter he faced, and Joel Hanrahan worked a perfect ninth to notch his 26th save in as many chances and set the franchise record for most saves by the All-Star break.
Aramis Ramirez homered for the third time in four games for the Cubs, who have dropped six of eight.
