Diamondbacks 6, Rockies 3

Miguel Montero hit a three-run homer and the streaking Arizona Diamondbacks notched their 11th victory in 13 games by posting a 6-3 win over the host Colorado Rockies on Thursday.

Montero’s fourth-inning homer off Clayton Mortensen (1-2) was his first since April 28 and it helped Arizona move two games above .500 for the first time this season. Colorado (24-25) fell below .500 for the first time since losing on Opening Day.

Stephen Drew and Chris Young walked to start the Arizona fourth before Montero’s blast to right-center field gave the Diamondbacks a 3-0 lead. Kelly Johnson added a two-run homer in the ninth for Arizona, which won three of four games in the series against Colorado.

Diamondbacks starter Micah Owings (1-0) allowed one run and four hits in five innings, and David Hernandez recorded the final five outs for his first save.

Mortensen allowed four runs and five hits in six innings.
