Orioles 4, Yankees 3

Nate McLouth hit a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh inning as Baltimore came back to take the opener from visiting New York.

Manny Machado doubled in a pair and Adam Jones added an RBI single for the Orioles, who have won three of four. Rookie Kevin Gausman (1-3) allowed three hits in 4 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn his first major-league win and Tommy Hunter worked a scoreless final two innings for his second save.

Robinson Cano had three hits and an RBI as the Yankees lost their third straight game. CC Sabathia (8-6) had a no-hitter through the first five innings but fell off late and ended up allowing four runs on five hits in seven frames.

McLouth and Alexi Casilla led off the sixth with back-to-back singles before coming in on Machado’s one-out double to right-center. Jones tied the contest with a two-out RBI single to left. McLouth came up again with two outs in the seventh and blasted a 1-0 slider over the wall in right to put Baltimore on top.

The Yankees jumped on top on Cano’s RBI single in the first and made it a 3-0 gap on RBI singles by Vernon Wells and Chris Stewart in the third.
