Rockies 4, Giants 1
Michael Cuddyer belted a two-run homer to extend his franchise-best hitting streak to 25 contests and Jhoulys Chacin scattered three hits over eight innings as host Colorado won the opener of a three-game series.
Cuddyer continued his torrid hitting in the third inning by depositing a 2-0 cutter from Barry Zito (4-6) over the scoreboard in right-center field. The blast was Cuddyer's 14th of the season and sixth during his hitting streak, which is the longest in the majors since then-Miami shortstop Jose Reyes' 26-game stretch in 2012.
Wilin Rosario followed Cuddyer's blast with one of his own and Carlos Gonzalez had an RBI double for the Rockies, who posted just their third win in 11 games.
Chacin (7-3) won his fourth straight start to avenge a brutal outing against San Francisco on May 16, when he yielded eight runs in 5 1/3 innings. Buster Posey greeted Rex Brothers with a homer to lead off the ninth before the latter recorded three strikeouts to seal the victory.
Zito fell to 0-5 on the road - with a pair of losses coming at Coors Field. The left-hander permitted four runs on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings to drop to 8-4 in his career versus the Rockies.
