Rockies win on Reynold's homer in ninth

DENVER -- Mark Reynolds hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning, giving the Colorado Rockies a 9-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday and a split of their four-game series.

Leading off the ninth, Trevor Story, who had tied the game in the seventh with his 19th homer, was hit with a Silvino Bracho (0-1) pitch on the left forearm. Bracho struck out Carlos Gonzalez and got pinch-hitter Tony Wolters to fly out, before Reynolds belted his eighth homer, a 464-foot blast to center on a 2-1 pitch.

It was the Rockies' first walk-off win of the season and the first walk-off homer of Reynolds' career.

Carlos Estevez (2-5) pitched the ninth for Colorado, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Rockies starter Chad Bettis gave up a single and double to start the sixth, followed by a two-run single by Paul Goldschmidt. His hard grounder up the middle gave the Diamondbacks a 7-6 lead and knocked both Bettis and second baseman DJ LeMahieu out of the game. LeMahieu deflected the ball with a diving attempt and suffered a left knee contusion.

Bettis allowed a season-high-tying seven runs and a career-high 12 hits, including 10 singles. The Diamondbacks finished with 15 hits, giving them a franchise-record 56 hits for a four-game series.

A Gonzalez grand slam, the fifth of his career, gave the Rockies a short-lived 6-5 lead and ended Patrick Corbin's workday. He allowed seven hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings and threw just 40 of 80 pitches for strikes.

Goldschmidt tripled home two runs with two outs in the fourth, giving the Diamondbacks a 5-1 lead. The blast to deep left-center came after Brandon Drury led off with a single and was sacrificed to second and Jean Segura walked. Both runners moved up when first baseman Reynolds made a diving stop of Michael Bourn's hard grounder.

The Diamondbacks scored twice in the first on consecutive two-out singles by Rickie Weeks Jr. and Chris Herrmann after Bettis gave up a single to Segura to start the game and a two-out walk to Jake Lamb.

Segura singled home a run in the second before the Rockies scored in the third when Charlie Blackmon belted his 12th home run. It was Blackmon's second homer in two games and soared an estimated 451 feet into the second deck in right field.
