Segura, Drury lead Diamondbacks to rout of Rockies
PHOENIX -- Jean Segura hit two home runs and Brandon Drury went deep for the second straight game in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 11-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night at Chase Field.
Segura, Yasmany Tomas and Paul Goldschmidt had three hits apiece, and Segura, Tomas and Welington Castillo had two RBIs each as Arizona won consecutive home games for the first time since July 16-17.
Segura homered in a four-run first inning after Colorado scored three runs in the top of the frame off Robbie Ray (8-13), who gave up four runs and struck out seven in five innings.
Ray has a career-high 202 strikeouts, the fifth NL pitcher to reach 200 this year. He averages 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings, second in the majors among qualifiers behind Miami's Jose Fernandez (12.8).
Segura and Goldschmidt scored three runs apiece, and with 14 homers Segura set a season high. The Diamondbacks (60-84) are 27-46 at home.
Nolan Arenado had two hits and his major league-leading 121st RBI and Charlie Blackmon hit his 26th home run for the Rockies (69-76), who have lost three of four.
Arizona right-hander Matt Koch had a four-inning save, his first save in his second career appearance.
Tomas has seven hits and seven RBIs in the first two games of the series in which Arizona has 23 runs and 33 hits.
Blackmon walked to open a three-run first inning off Ray. DJ LeMahieu doubled to drive in Blackmon, extending to 30 his streak of consecutive games reaching base.
Arenado tripled down the right field line to drive in LeMahieu and scored on Carlos Gonzalez's groundout for a 3-0 lead.
Segura opened the bottom half with his first homer, sparking a four-run inning against Jorge De La Rosa. Owings doubled, stole third and scored on a groundout.
Goldschmidt, who walked and stole second, scored on Jake Lamb's double, and Mitch Haniger singled in the fourth run after a passed ball.
Segura lead off the fourth inning with his 14th homer of the season.
De La Rosa gave up eight hits and six runs (five earned) in 3 1/3 innings.
Blackmon homered in the fifth inning to make it 6-4.
Drury homer opened a five-run fifth as the Diamondbacks took an 11-4 lead. Goldschmidt, Welington Castillo and Tomas had RBI hits, and the final run scored on a wild pitch.
