Rockies 4, Diamondbacks 2

Jason Giambi hit a two-run walk-off homer on Sunday afternoon to lift the Colorado Rockies to a 10th straight victory, a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Coors Field.

Colorado moved within 1 1/2 games of the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants in the National League West and two games behind wild card-leading Atlanta Braves.

Jonathan Herrera started the rally when he reached on an error by second baseman Kelly Johnson. With two outs, Giambi drove a slider over the center-field fence against Sam Demel (1-1) for his sixth home run of the season.

Huston Street (3-4) pitched the ninth for the victory.

Arizona reached Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin for two unearned runs in the third inning, but the Rockies scored twice in the seventh when Ryan Spilborghs blooped a two-run double to short left field that bounced off the glove of shortstop Stephen Drew to tie the game at 2-2.

Chacin lasted four innings and 84 pitches, surrendering five hits and four walks.

Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy retired 15 straight batters after loading the bases with two outs in the first inning until Carlos Gonzalez doubled with two outs in the sixth. He allowed two hits and three walks with six strikeouts and also collected three hits. The former Yankees first-round pick is 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA in his last five starts.
