Phillies 3, Mets 0

Roy Oswalt tossed a four-hitter and Raul Ibanez homered to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 3-0 triumph over the New York Mets.

Chase Utley recorded two hits and an RBI while Ryan Howard also drove in a run for the Phillies, who have won 13 of their last 17 games.

Oswalt (12-13) limited the Mets to four singles - just two over the final eight innings - and one walk en route to his second complete-game shutout of the season and first as a Phillie. The right-hander, who struck out five, has 20 complete games and eight shutouts over his career.

In nine starts since being acquired from Houston, Oswalt has gone 6-1 with a 1.98 ERA. He has allowed fewer than two earned runs in five of his last seven outings and kept the opposition scoreless four times in that span.

Philadelphia gave Oswalt all the support he needed in the first inning as Shane Victorino led off the game with a single and scored on Utley's base hit two batters later. Howard collected his 11th RBI in his last five games by plating Placido Polanco with a single in the third for a 2-0 advantage.

Ibanez opened the seventh with his 14th blast of the year. New York avoided further damage in the frame as Jonathon Niese got Polanco to ground into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded.

Niese (9-8) pitched well, allowing three runs and eight hits in seven innings. The left-hander walked two and struck out six in losing for the third time in four starts.
