Mark Reynolds had five RBIs - including a three-run homer - and Alfredo Simon pitched seven strong innings as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the host Kansas City Royals 8-2 on Tuesday.
Reynolds, who grounded into a double play with the bases loaded to end the first, had three hits, including a two-run double in the third and his 24th homer in the ninth.
Simon (3-4) allowed one run, four hits and threw a career-high 106 pitches. He retired 11 in a row after giving up a run in the first.
Chris Davis, acquired from Texas on Saturday, had an RBI single and a solo home run for the Orioles. Tommy Hunter, who came over with Davis for reliever Koji Uehara, pitched the eighth and gave up a run in the first outing for his new team.
J.J. Hardy added two hits and an RBI for Baltimore, which has won five of seven against Kansas City in 2011.
Eric Hosmer had a pair of doubles and an RBI for the Royals.
Kansas City starter Bruce Chen (5-5) allowed three runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings, and lost for the first time at home this season.
It was 104 degrees at game time.
