Phillies 9, Reds 0

Roy Halladay allowed two hits over seven innings and added a three-run double, and Ryan Howard homered twice to secure his franchise-best sixth straight season of at least 100 RBIs as the Philadelphia Phillies cruised to a 9-0 victory over the host Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.

Raul Ibanez collected three hits - including a two-run homer - and Hunter Pence also went deep for Philadelphia, which moved 7 1/2 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.

Halladay (16-5), pitching on eight days' rest, permitted a leadoff single to Brandon Phillips and a walk to Joey Votto in the first before retiring the next 17 batters he faced. The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner struck out nine and walked two.

Howard belted a two-run homer in the fourth and added a solo shot in the ninth. Howard, who has 29 homers and 102 RBIs this season, was tied with Hall of Famer Chuck Klein with five straight seasons of at least 100 RBIs.

Staked to a 3-0 lead, Halladay doubled the advantage with a bases-clearing double to right field in the sixth.

Bronson Arroyo (8-11) fell to 1-7 against the Phillies after yielding six runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
