Cubs 11, Pirates 6
Alfonso Soriano led a six-homer night for the Chicago with a pair of blasts as the Cubs pounded the host Pittsburgh Pirates, 11-6, on Tuesday.
Aramis Ramirez hit his 20th homer and drove in four for the Cubs, who have won three straight since the trade deadline passed on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates have dropped five straight and 10 of their last 13 to drop back to .500 (54-54).
Chicago had little trouble with Kevin Correia (12-9), grabbing a run in the first and then starting the homer barrage with a solo blast from Tyler Colvin in the second. Ramirez added a three-run shot in the second and Geovany Soto and Soriano each homered in the third to chase Correia.
The All-Star righthander was charged with eight runs in two-plus innings.
Marlon Byrd and Soriano each hit solo homers in the fourth, part of a 21-hit attack.
Randy Wells (3-4) was the beneficiary of all the support. The righthander struck out seven and allowed two runs in six innings to pick up the win.
Garrett Jones homered twice and Brandon Wood added pinch-hit blast for Pittsburgh.
