Cubs 6, Reds 3

Carlos Pena belted a three-run homer in the eighth inning to snap a tie and lift the Chicago Cubs to a 6-3 victory over the visiting Cincinnati Reds in the rubber game of their three-game series on Wednesday.

Cincinnati rallied for two runs in the seventh to make it 3-3, but Starlin Castro ignited the winning rally an inning later with a leadoff single of Logan Ondrusek (4-5).

Following a sacrifice and an intentional walk to Aramis Ramirez, Pena rudely greeted Bill Bray by launching the lefthander's first pitch beyond the bleachers in right field for his 26th blast of the year.

Pena's homer made a winner of Kerry Wood (2-5), who tossed a scoreless eighth. Carlos Marmol worked a perfect ninth for his 33rd save in 42 opportunities.

Ramirez drove in two runs, and rookie D.J. LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI for the Cubs, who have won three of four.

Yonder Alonso collected three singles and an RBI for Cincinnati, which has lost seven of 10.
