Troy Tulowitzki had three hits and three RBIs and the Colorado Rockies set season highs for runs and hits while registering a 12-7 victory over the visiting San Diego Padres on Friday.
Ryan Spilborghs also had three of Colorado’s 16 hits and Seth Smith, Jonathan Herrera and Todd Helton had two hits apiece as Colorado won for just the second time in eight games.
Cameron Maybin went 4-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs for San Diego.
Tulowitzki had a two-run single in Colorado’s three-run first inning and hit his 10th homer in the fourth inning, a solo shot off Dustin Moseley (1-5) that gave the Rockies a 6-2 lead.
Maybin hit a solo homer in the second inning off Jorge De La Rosa (5-1) and ripped a two-run homer in the seventh to pull the Padres within 9-7.
Colorado scored three runs in the eighth – two unearned – after San Diego left fielder Ryan Ludwick made a three-base error on Spilborghs’ fly ball.
De La Rosa gave up five runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Moseley allowed six runs and nine hits in four innings in his poorest outing of the season.
