Cory Luebke allowed one hit over seven innings to lead the San Diego Padres to their fourth win in five games, 8-2 over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Monday night.
Luebke (6-9) held the Rockies without a hit through the first 5 2/3 innings before Mark Ellis drove a 3-0 pitch over the center-field wall for a two-run homer. Luebke finished with nine strikeouts and three walks, and exited after throwing a career-high 119 pitches. Luebke also went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
The Padres built an early three-run cushion over the first three innings with RBI singles by Jeremy Hermida, Jason Bartlett and Kyle Blanks. Aaron Cunningham and Cameron Maybin both hit two-run homers off Kevin Millwood (3-3) in the fourth to stretch San Diego's lead to 7-0.
Millwood exited after allowing seven runs - six earned - in 3 1/3 innings. He allowed nine hits and walked one as Colorado lost its fifth consecutive game.
