Orioles 6, Yankees 2
Adam Jones and Nolan Reimold each drove in two runs and the Baltimore Orioles got the better of CC Sabathia for once in a 6-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
Baltimore kept Sabathia from his 20th win of the season, a milestone he is trying to reach for the first time in his career. Sabathia entered the game with a 13-1 career mark against the Orioles in 18 starts, but on this night the resurgent Orioles got the better of the matchup.
Jones had a two-run single in the first to stake Baltimore to a 3-0 lead. New York shaved a run off the lead in the home half of the frame on an RBI single by Robinson Cano, but the Yankees were held in check the rest of the way.
Reimold made it 5-1 with a two-run home run in the third off of Sabathia. Nick Markakis drove in Baltimore's final run of the game in the seventh with an RBI single to left.
Jake Arrieta (5-6) picked up the win, allowing two runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three and left with two on and one out in the seventh. Matt Albers came on and got out of the jam and recorded five outs without allowing a hit and Mark Hendrickson pitched a perfect ninth for the Orioles, who have taken the first two in this series.
Sabathia (19-6) took the loss, allowing six runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings. He allowed one walk and recorded five strikeouts en route to his first loss since Aug. 1 against Tampa Bay.
