Josh Willingham belted a solo home run and had a key RBI double in a three-run, sixth-inning rally as the Oakland Athletics posted a 6-2 victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
Ryan Sweeney had two hits - including a two-out RBI single to give Oakland a 3-2 lead in the sixth. Willingham followed with his run-scoring double and Kurt Suzuki added an RBI single for the Athletics, who have won three of their last four.
Brad Ziegler (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to get the victory. Oakland starter Gio Gonzalez allowed two runs and five hits in five innings.
Matt Wieters had two hits for Baltimore, which had a five-game win streak snapped.
Orioles starter Chris Tillman allowed two runs and six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Alfredo Simon (1-1) came on in relief in the bottom of the fifth to strike out two with the bases loaded to keep the game tied 2-2. He allowed three runs in the sixth, however.
Vladimir Guerrero extended his hit streak to 12 games with a single in the second inning.
