Teixeira tied teammate Curtis Granderson and Toronto's Jose Bautista for the American League lead with 21 homers as the Yankees scored six straight runs to erase a 4-3 deficit.
Rangers starter Derek Holland (5-2) suffered his first defeat since losing at New York on April 16. He allowed six runs on seven hits in five innings to fall to 0-4 lifetime against the Yankees.
