Indians 6, Tigers 4

Orlando Cabrera had three hits and drove in the go-ahead run to help the Cleveland Indians move back into a tie for first place in the American League Central with a 6-4 victory over the host Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.

Matt LaPorta added two hits and two RBIs as Cleveland won for only the third time in 13 games to tie Detroit atop the division.

Fausto Carmona (4-8) snapped a personal five-game losing streak, lasting five innings and allowing four runs – two earned – on seven hits to win for the first time since May 3.

Chris Perez capped four innings of perfect relief with his 17th save.

One night after nearly getting no-hit, the Indians collected 13 hits and put up more runs than they had scored in their previous four games combined.

Detroit jumped out to a 3-0 lead in its first at-bat on Brennan Boesch's solo homer and a two-run single by Alex Avila.

Cleveland responded with four in the fourth, getting RBI singles from LaPorta, Cabrera and Lou Marson and a sacrifice fly by Grady Sizemore.

Brad Penny was charged with four runs on eight hits in a season-low 3 1/3 innings. Charlie Furbush (1-1) took the loss.
