Tigers 6, Indians 2

Jhonny Peralta and Ryan Raburn belted back-to-back homers in the fourth inning as the Detroit Tigers seized sole possession of first place in the American League Central with a 6-2 home triumph over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday.

Victor Martinez drove in a pair of runs and Miguel Cabrera and Don Kelly had RBI singles for Detroit, which claimed two of three from Cleveland to improve to 10-5 in June.

Brennan Boesch, who went 3-for-4 with three singles and a run scored, has 19 hits in his last 11 games for the Tigers.

The offensive outburst was more than enough for Max Scherzer (9-2), who secured his third straight victory. He allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Shin-Soo Choo and Michael Brantley both tripled in the first inning for Cleveland, which has dropped 11 of its last 14 games.

Mitch Talbot (2-4) permitted six runs on nine hits in four innings to suffer his fourth loss in five games since returning from the disabled list.
