Marlins 4, Nationals 1 (13)

Donnie Murphy hit a two-run homer in the top of the 13th inning to boost the Florida Marlins to a 4-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday.

John Buck led off the 13th with a single off Collin Balester (1-4) before Murphy belted his one-out blast over the left-field fence to help give Florida its second consecutive victory. Mike Stanton added a run-scoring double later in the inning.

Leo Nunez worked a perfect bottom of the 13th for his 36th save to finish off six hitless innings of relief by Florida pitchers. Clay Hensley (5-6) struck out the side in the 12th and collected the victory.

Washington’s Stephen Strasburg pitched six solid innings in his third major-league start since returning from major elbow surgery. Strasburg allowed one run and four hits in six innings. He struck out three.

Florida starter Chris Volstad doubled in the third, was sacrificed to third and scored on Omar Infante’s sacrifice fly. Volstad allowed one run and six hits in seven innings.

Washington’s Wilson Ramos tied the score with a homer in the fifth.

The Nationals had a chance to win in the bottom of the 11th when they had runners on first and third with one out, but Mike Morse bounced into a double play.
