Phillies 5, Nationals 0
Roy Oswalt struck out a season-high nine batters over eight innings and Wilson Valdez had a two-run triple as the Philadelphia Phillies posted a 5-0 road triumph over the Washington Nationals on Saturday.
Hunter Pence belted a solo homer and Jimmy Rollins added a two-run single to highlight a three-run sixth inning for Philadelphia, which has won 16 of its last 20 games.
Carlos Ruiz collected two hits for the second straight game and also scored twice for the Phillies.
The offensive outburst was more than enough for Oswalt (6-7), who won his second in a row after a three-game losing skid. The veteran scattered eight hits and walked one before rookie Michael Stutes retired the side in the ninth to seal the victory.
John Lannan (8-9) fell to 1-12 in his career against the Phillies after yielding five runs on seven hits in five innings.
After belting a walk-off grand slam in Friday's 8-4 victory, Ryan Zimmerman collected three hits for Washington.
