Dodgers 1, Padres 0

Dioner Navarro singled in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers an improbable 1-0 victory over the visiting San Diego Padres on Saturday.

Los Angeles was no-hit for 8 2/3 innings until Juan Uribe doubled over the head of Padres left fielder Chris Denorfia. Navarro followed with the game-winning hit to right-center field off Luke Gregerson (2-2).

The shutout victory was the third straight for the Dodgers, who won by a 1-0 score for the second straight day.

The San Diego franchise has never had a no-hitter and Aaron Harang pitched six hitless innings in his first outing since June 9 due to a foot injury. Harang struck out six and walked three. He was removed after 95 pitches.

Josh Spence retired one batter in the seventh and Chad Qualls got the final two outs. Mike Adams worked out of a two-on, no-out jam in the eighth by retiring three straight batters.

Los Angeles starter Rubby De La Rosa also was solid. De La Rosa gave up just one hit in six shutout innings and struck out a career-high eight.

Matt Guerrier, Mike MacDougal and Blake Hawksworth (2-2) each pitched a hitless inning for Los Angeles.

Cameron Maybin’s fifth-inning single was San Diego’s only hit of the game.
