Dodgers 4, Padres 1
Andre Ethier hit a pair of solo homers and Ted Lilly halted his four-game skid with five strong innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning streak to four games Sunday with a 4-1 home triumph over the San Diego Padres.
The Dodgers have outscored their opponents 12-1 during their current run.
After posting three consecutive shutouts, Los Angeles had its scoreless innings streak snapped at 29 when Rob Johnson led off the third for San Diego with a blast off Lilly. That turned out to be the Padres' only run of the three-game series as Lilly and five relievers shut the door the rest of the way.
Lilly (6-9) yielded four hits and struck out seven en route to just his second win in seven starts. Javy Guerra worked a scoreless ninth for his fourth save in as many chances.
After the Dodgers capitalized on Padres third baseman Chase Headley's error in the third for two runs, Ethier made it 3-1 with a two-out homer off Tim Stauffer (5-6) in the fifth. He completed his first multi-homer performance since May 2, 2010 against Pittsburgh with a shot in the eighth.
Orlando Hudson had two hits for San Diego, which completed a 3-7 road trip with five straight losses.
