Diamondbacks 6, Giants 5 (12 innings)

Stephen Drew sent a walk-off single into right field to score Justin Upton and lift the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 6-5 victory in 12 innings over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday.

Drew added a two-run triple and Ryan Roberts singled in the tying run for the Diamondbacks, who avoided a sweep of the three-game set.

The Giants sent lefthander Dan Runzler (1-2) out for his third inning of work in the 12th and he got a quick out before walking Upton and Chris Young. San Francisco brought in lefthander Javier Lopez to face the left-handed hitting Drew, who pushed a single just past the dive of second baseman Freddy Sanchez.
Upton slid into home just before the throw from right fielder Nate Schierholtz reached the plate.

David Hernandez and J.J. Putz combined for three hitless innings before Josh Collmenter (1-0) came in to make his major league debut, striking out a pair in two hitless frames to earn the win.

Trailing 4-1, San Francisco broke through in the sixth against Arizona starter Barry Enright, tying it on Buster Posey’s two-run blast and grabbing a 5-4 edge when Pablo Sandoval followed with a solo shot off Esmerling Vasquez.

But the bullpen failed to hold the lead and the Diamondbacks forged a 5-5 tie when Roberts singled in Xavier Nady in the bottom of the eighth.

San Francisco starter Madison Bumgarner allowed four runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 frames.
