Mets 7, Marlins 3

Scott Hairston homered and drove in three runs and Jon Niese worked into the seventh inning as New York snapped its nine-game home losing streak.

The Mets won their fifth straight against the Marlins and rebounded from Thursday’s 16-1 loss to Philadelphia behind a solid effort from Niese (12-9), who gave up three runs with seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 frames.

Hairston capped the Mets’ three-run first inning with his career-high 18th home run, a two-run blast off Jacob Turner (1-3). New York added two more runs in the second and took a 6-1 lead in the fifth on Hairston’s RBI triple.

Turner allowed six runs (three earned) over five innings for the Marlins, who pulled within 6-3 in the sixth when Donovan Solano and Austin Kearns each drove in a run. Solano had two hits and two RBI and shortstop Gil Velazquez added two hits.

New York, which scored more than three runs for the first time in its last 16 home games, added an insurance run in the seventh on Ike Davis’ 28th home run off Wade LeBlanc.
