Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 1

Zack Greinke pitched seven shutout innings and went 3-for-3 as Los Angeles beat host Arizona in the opener of a three-game series.

Greinke (7-2) struck out seven and allowed two hits and two walks while winning his fourth consecutive start. The contest was played without incident in the first meeting between the two teams since a series in Los Angeles that featured a benches-clearing brawl June 11.

Juan Uribe got the Dodgers on the board with a fourth-inning RBI single off Randall Delgado (1-3). Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez had back-to-back run-scoring singles in the fifth to make it 3-0.

Los Angeles increased its lead to 5-0 in the seventh on a run-scoring double by Andre Ethier and a single by A.J. Ellis. Ethier and Ramirez each had three hits – the Dodgers had 17 overall, including 16 singles – with Ramirez’s career-best hitting streak reaching 19 games.

Delgado allowed three runs and 11 hits in six innings as Arizona’s five-game winning streak came to an end. Los Angeles has won 13 of 16 games and is 3 1/2 games behind the first-place Diamondbacks in the National League West.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles placed CF Matt Kemp (shoulder) and RHP Stephen Fife (shoulder) on the disabled list and recalled OF Scott Van Slyke from Triple-A Albuquerque. Tuesday starter Ricky Nolasco will take Fife’s roster spot after being acquired from the Miami Marlins on Sunday. … Arizona’s run came on a two-out ninth-inning double by Eric Chavez. … The three-hit game was the first for Greinke, who has two multi-hit games this season and four in his career.
