Orioles 3, Athletics 2
Rookie Zach Britton threw 6 1/3 innings to earn his first win since May 1 as the Baltimore Orioles posted a 3-2 victory over the
Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, completing their first three-game sweep of the A's in
Baltimore since July 21-23, 1998.
Oakland managed only three extra-base hits in the series and has been
held to three runs or fewer seven times during its nine-game losing
streak, the A's longest since a 10-game skid from July 28 to Aug. 7, 2008.
The A's have lost 15 of 20 overall, while the Orioles have won five of seven and nine of 11 at home.
Mark Reynolds hit his team-leading 10th home run for Baltimore and Kevin Gregg worked a perfect ninth for his 12th save. Baltimore's
bullpen did not allow an earned run in 10 1/3 innings during the series.
Britton (6-4) allowed a run and four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Oakland starter Josh Outman (1-1) matched zeroes with Britton until the Orioles' three-run fifth, capped by Reynolds' two-run homer to left-center.
