Braves 5, Nationals 2
Chipper Jones and Brian McCann belted solo home runs as the Atlanta Braves posted a 5-2 home win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday.
McCann hit his 23rd homer of the season in the first inning and Jones followed with his 15th in the second off Washington starter Chien-Ming Wang (2-3).
Wang allowed seven hits in 5 2/3 innings and lost to Atlanta for the second time this season.
Tim Hudson (14-8) allowed one run on five hits and struck out five in six innings of work. It was his sixth win in seven starts.
Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the the ninth inning to earn his 42nd save, extending his own rookie record.
Jayson Werth hit his 17th home run for the Nationals.
