Dodgers 9, Padres 5

Andre Ethier capped an eight-run second inning with his third career grand slam as the Los Angeles Dodgers posted an 8-5 victory over the visiting San Diego Padres on Tuesday.

Ethier also scored twice for the Dodgers, who have scored 55 runs while winning seven of their last eight.

Ethier added a pair of singles for his second straight three-hit performance after missing Sunday's game against Colorado with a knee injury. He ignited the second-inning rally with a leadoff single and capped it with his 11th home run of the season.

Hiroki Kuroda (11-14) allowed four runs over six innings en route to his fourth consecutive win. It marked the first time in nine starts Kuroda yielded more than three runs.

Javy Guerra worked the ninth for his 12th save in 13 opportunities.

Padres starter Tim Stauffer (8-11) recorded only five outs before being lifted. He surrendered only one hit but walked seven and allowed seven runs. Stauffer issued six walks in the second inning, including three with the bases loaded.

Kyle Blanks doubled, homered and had three RBIs for San Diego, which has lost six in a row. The five runs were one more than the team's total for its previous five games.
