Dodgers 7, Rockies 6

A.J. Ellis singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 7-6 comeback victory over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

The Dodgers loaded the bases on two singles and an intentional walk against Manny Delcarmen (0-2), who worked the count to 3-2 before serving one up in the middle of the plate that Ellis crushed over the drawn-in outfield to bring in Rafael Furcal with the winning run.

Huston Street allowed a one-out double to Furcal in the bottom of the ninth and Kemp followed with a double of his own to knot the game at 6-6 and force extra innings.

Fresh off the first shutout of his career, Clayton Kershaw immediately ran into trouble in the first inning, loading the bases on three walks - one intentional. Jason Giambi made him pay for the lack of control, sending a double out to deep left to clear the bases.

Andre Ethier got the Dodgers on the board with a solo shot in the bottom of the frame, but Colorado got to Kershaw again in the second for three more runs. Herrera, Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki each drove in runs on consecutive at-bats in the frame.

Los Angeles battled back with three runs in the fourth and cut it to 6-5 on Kemp’s solo homer in the eighth.

The loss dropped the Rockies one game behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West.
