Blue Jays 7, Rays 3

Catcher J.P. Arencibia had a single, double, triple and two RBIs to go with his first career stolen base as the Toronto Blue Jays avoided a four-game sweep with a 7-3 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Monday.

Adam Lind belted a two-run homer to give the Blue Jays the lead for good 3-2 in the bottom of the third. Jose Bautista (two RBIs) added a solo blast in the sixth, tying Curtis Granderson of the New York Yankees for the major league lead with 38.

Ricky Romero (13-9) was in a 2-0 hole after facing two batters, when Johnny Damon hit the first of two homers, but settled down to win his sixth straight decision. He gave up three runs in six innings.

It was Damon’s first multi-homer game since Sept. 9, 2008. Damon had three RBIs to reach 60 for the 10th time in 12 seasons.

Kelly Johnson, who came into the game 1-for-11 in the series, had three hits and scored twice for Toronto.

Tampa Bay starter Wade Davis (8-8) gave up nine hits and six runs over 4 1/3 innings, losing a decision for the first time since July 22.
