Aramis Ramirez lined a walk-off single to left field as the Chicago Cubs snapped the San Francisco Giants' seven-game winning streak 2-1 on Wednesday night.
Tony Campana led off the ninth by beating out a grounder to deep short and was bunted to second. Ramirez delivered with two outs on an 0-2 slider from Sergio Romo (3-1).
Cubs second baseman Blake DeWitt, a career .261 hitter, doubled and had an RBI single in the seventh off Tim Lincecum to improve to 8-for-18 (.444) against the Giants' ace.
San Francisco tied it in the ninth on Emmanuel Burriss’ RBI hit up the middle.
Ryan Dempster allowed three hits and struck out six in eight innings. He retired 20 straight batters before a leadoff double to Pat Burrell in the ninth. Carlos Marmol (2-2) blew a chance at his 17th save, but got the win.
Lincecum struck out nine and allowed five hits in seven innings.
