Cubs 7, Giants 0

The Chicago Cubs hit four home runs to snap their five-game losing streak with a 7-0 win over the host San Francisco Giants on Monday.

Randy Wells (6-4) tossed his first career complete game while allowing just two hits to drop the Giants five games behind Arizona in the National League West.

Geovany Soto, Blake DeWitt and Carlos Pena each homered in the Cubs’ five-run seventh inning. Alfonso Soriano also went deep in the fifth.

DeWitt’s three-run blast followed Orlando Cabrera’s critical fielding error on Starlin Castro’s grounder with no outs.

Giants starter Tim Lincecum (12-11) allowed three home runs in a game for the first time in his career.

After giving up two runs or fewer in nine straight starts, Lincecum allowed five runs – four earned – on six hits and four walks over six innings.

Wells improved to 5-1 over his last eight starts while striking out seven. The Giants are averaging a major league-low 2.6 runs per game since Aug. 4.
