Kevin Kouzmanoff homered and had four RBIs, and Trevor Cahill pitched six solid innings as the Oakland Athletics routed the host Seattle Mariners 9-1 on Saturday.
Coco Crisp and Cliff Pennington had two RBIs apiece as Oakland rebounded from back-to-back shutout losses to achieve a season-high for runs scored.
Cahill (3-0) allowed one run for the fourth time in five outings. He gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out two.
Kouzmanoff’s second homer of the season was a three-run shot during Oakland’s five-run sixth inning. Crisp had a run-scoring double later in the inning and scored on Conor Jackson’s RBI single.
Pennington hit a two-run homer in the fourth to give the Athletics a 4-1 lead. The blast following a run-scoring single by Kouzmanoff.
Crisp, who went 3-for-5, also delivered a run-scoring double in the third to tie the score at 1. Seattle’s Jack Wilson singled in a run in the second.
Ichiro Suzuki went 3-for-4 for Seattle.
Mariners starter Jason Vargas (0-2) gave up six runs and six hits in five innings.
