Mark Reynolds hit a grand slam as part of a five-RBI performance to lead Cleveland past visiting Chicago for the second straight day.
Nick Swisher and Yan Gomes both hit two-run homers and right-hander Zach McAllister (1-1) allowed one earned run and five hits in 6 1/3 innings as the Indians evened their record at 5-5.
Alejandro De Aza hit a two-run homer for the White Sox. Left-hander Chris Sale (1-1) was roughed up for eight runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings as Chicago lost its fifth straight game.
The contest was tied at 2 before Reynolds delivered a go-ahead single in the third. He broke the game open on his next at-bat in the fifth, when he slammed a 1-1 pitch from Sale over the left-field fence to give Cleveland a five-run lead.
Gomes homered off reliever Deunte Heath later in the inning to make it 9-2.
