Jhoulys Chacin pitched eight strong innings, Dexter Fowler had four RBIs and Wilin Rosario drove in three as host Colorado recorded a season high for runs en route to its fourth straight victory.
DJ LeMahieu homered and had two RBIs, rookie Nolan Arenado recorded four hits and Chris Dickerson doubled twice for the Rockies, who are 11-3 against San Diego this season. Chacin (11-6) improved to 3-1 in five starts against the Padres in 2013 after allowing one run and five hits while striking out six and lifting a sacrifice fly.
Jaff Decker recorded his first major-league hit - a home run - while rookie Jedd Gyorko also went deep for the Padres, who have lost five of their last six games. Edinson Volquez (8-10) fell to 0-4 with a 13.08 ERA against Colorado in five outings this season after yielding eight runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Fowler singled and Dickerson doubled in the first inning before Rosario knocked them in two batters later with a base hit. LeMahieu crushed a hanging curveball over the wall in left to lead off the second and Dickerson added an RBI two-base hit three batters later as part of the three-run frame.
The Rockies made it 8-0 in the fifth inning, when Fowler's two-out, two-run single capped a three-run outburst. After a 1:03 rain delay in the middle of the eighth, Colorado sent 10 batters to the plate and scored six runs - including two on a double by Fowler.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rockies RF Michael Cuddyer missed his second straight game with the flu. ... Colorado last won four in a row during an eight-game winning streak from April 12-20, which included three over San Diego. ... Arenado and San Diego's Will Venable extended their hitting streaks to nine games. Arenado is 14-for-33 during his run, while Venable is 11-for-33. The Padres center fielder is hitting .355 since July 14 - raising his average to .252.
